Hip Tips for Spring Fashion: Be Bold. Be Beautiful {Guest Editorial}

What’s hip for the spring?  155534_2_DiGugliemo0009Guest Contributor, Lisa Pisano, talks to us about some fun trends you’ll see as the weather turns beautiful.  Lisa is the Creator & Editorial Director of mom a la mode, where the topics of food, fashion, pop culture and family life are celebrated.  When she’s not helping her small business clients find their social media North Star, you’ll find her tweeting from @momalamode, updating her blog’s Facebook fan page and navigating her Google + page.  All while chasing after her toddler son…

Spring is here, and with it comes a bevy of hot new fashion trends.  I absolutely love pouring over my March/April magazine issues and catalogs, doggy-earring fashion pages or pinning up looks I adore on Pinterest.  And while the days of getting a spiffy new seasonal wardrobe are long gone for some of us (welcome to the world of the stay-at-home-mama), there are still ways to incorporate key pieces to keep your look hip and fresh, whether you’re rushing the kiddies off to playdates or meeting up with the hubs for a night on the town.

Fashion Editor & Stylist, Samantha Beranbom gets it – not only because she’s styled hundreds of fashion magazine editorials, but because she’s a mom of a toddler, too!  Sam suggests a great way to start is by “updating your boring t-shirt and jeans with a new pair of skinny or straight leg jeans in a pastel color.”   Feeling bold?  Go for a floral or graphic print:

If darker jeans are more your stride, pair with a bright blouse and some super cute printed or studded flats for an easy, breezy effortless-chic look. Like this one spotted on Pinterest:

From there, move on to accessories.  Think outside the jewelry box!  Easy additions like customized headbands with floral and feather accents to printed detachable collars can add a touch of drama, whimsy or prep, depending upon your mood:

Look for vibrant bright colors and bold patterns to have a little fun with your cover ups.

For the kiddies, keeping it light and bright with little touches of neon here and there can be fresh and fun. (Ok maybe white is not the MOST practical color choice, but isn’t there something so angelic about a child in white?!)
